PIGS paper guide

Matt smooth paper has minimal texture on the surface and as a group the sharpest of all the papers. However, there are variations that make a difference in expression. The thickness of the paper and the colour tone make a big difference. 

Smooth matte paper offers the widest range, from simple quality to high-end. Smooth matte paper is suitable for most things, from portraits to landscapes, to cities, animals and cars, you name it. 

Ultra-Smooth matt paper makes the print a little softer in expression. They can also resemble very old photographs that are matte but almost have a lustre because they are so fine-grained.
